Mola or Blouse Front Hand Sewn

This mola is a reverse appliqué by the Kuna People of the San Blass islands off the coast of Panama. Historically this would’ve been made as a blouse front , but in more recent times have been made for the tourist market. The wonderful little ship has two people on it and the name of the ship or boat embroidered underneath it. It could be meant to represent a stylized cruise ship. All hand sewn.
