Reverse Appliqué Quilt

$485.00

This reverse appliqué quilt appears to be two pieces sewn together. The main body of the piece is comprised of six individual panels in reverse appliqué, surrounded by additional reverse appliqué in white. The edge of one piece has been partially machine stitched together, and then added on (see last photo). The reverse appliqué is meticulously hand sewn throughout. There is some staining on the surface of the quilt, and one area where there appears to be dye transfer or water damage. The back of the quilt has some staining as well.

Origin unknown, possibly ‘Rilli’ or ‘Ralli’ (Sindhi: رلّي) the traditional bedspreads and quilts handmade by women from remote villages of Sindh (Pakistan), mid 20th century.

Approximate size is 96” x 96“.
