Central Asian vest with couched silver thread.

Traditional central Asian vest from the early 20th century. Elaborate surface designs are made by sewing chords to the surface of the vest. The pattern on the back of the vest is indicative of what the front would’ve been as it is braided with silver. Parts of the embroidery on the front have been removed, possibly to sell the value of the silver in the embroidery. Lining fabric is a 1920s roller printed Russian cotton. There is some slight discolouration to the lining possibly from sweat stains.
