This overall embroidered evening bag dates from the early 20th century. Background embroidery is a combination of metallic thread with a random yellow ochre thread. The individual flowers and decorations are a combination of satin stitch and knot work that have been appliquéd onto the bag, with the overall background stitch anchoring them along with sides. The closure is a combination of marcasite and coral. It is lined in a light green moire silk.
Condition: There is some damage to the embroidery, mostly from age and use. There is also some slight wearing to the lining as well.
Size: Overall size approximately 10 inches wide by 6 1/2 inches deep.
