Indigo-Dyed Dragon Yardage

$195.00

This beautiful hand woven cotton is stencilled with dragons on an indigo-dyed background. Mid- to late 19th century, this piece is comprised of two panels stitched together. Possibly a futon cover re-purposed as a table cover destined for the western market. The two ends have been stitched down with a machine to hold them in place. The non-selvedge edge appears as if it would’ve been connected to a third panel. It has also been stitched down by machine. There is some slight variation in the indigo colour, but this is not unusual in older indigo-dyed items.
