Burnt Sienna and Navy Overshot Coverlet

This traditional antique overshot coverlet is a striking combination of royal blue and burnt sienna wool on a cotton ground. It is fringed on the bottom edge with the remainder of the warp. Part of the fringe has been lost from use and the centre seam needs to be reinforced at both ends where the two pieces have been joined. There are a few loose threads, and some minor staining (see last 2 photos). A beautiful example of traditional weaving.

Approximate size 72“ x 78“.
