Chinese Sampler Four Band Textile

This beautiful sample of 19th century Chinese embroidery appears to be multiple cuff bands sewn together to create six panels attached to four bands across the top. There are many varieties of embroidery in the individual panels. Everything from satin stitch to knot work and even the tiny Peking knot as well. Beautiful variety of colour in the indigo dyed threads. There is some copper wrapped thread attached as well. In each of the panels the underlying fabric is a silk brocade. The four bands at the top of the piece have some damage to them as part of the silk has started to give way and there is some staining as well.

Size:  Approximate size is 26 inches wide by 30 inches long.
