Hand Woven Indian Wool Panel
This Rajasthani hand woven panel appears to be a combination of wool and goat hair from its texture. There are many striations in the brown colour palette. This could either be from the dying process, or from the source wool that was used. Not all of the edges of the coloured stripes have been finished. There is a looser woven section at the halfway point which could mean that this piece was meant to be cut into two. The colour bands at the ends of the piece are repeated near this section, reinforcing this idea. The two pieces could then be sewn together, possibly to create a floor covering. There are some minor variations in the weaving throughout.
It is approximately 25 inches wide and 16 feet long.
