1847 Album Of Homilies And Sketches
This embossed covered album was purchased in London. The flyleaf bears the initials BB and 1847. The front cover of the album is loose. Inside are over two dozen pages of beautiful handwriting that is a combination of puzzles, comments and what the author is calling “enigmas”. There are four beautifully rendered floral watercolors, and a number of illustrations from periodicals or other books of the day that have been pasted into the book. There are a number of pages that have embossed frames where a drawing or a small illustration could be placed within.
A delightful artifact.
Size: It is 4 inches wide and approximately 6 1/2 inches tall. The page edges are gilt.
