Prisoner-of-War (Boer) Carved Paper Knife

$495.00

This package contains a note from the previous owner, two shells and a collapsible knife/letter opener. In the note, the letter opener is described as being made by prisoners from the Boer War in India, which would date it to just after 1900. It is made from beautifully carved camel bone, with small rivets to hold it together. The back of the piece has been damaged as the tail and most of one of the birds is missing. And unusual piece. Letter opener/paper knife, shells and letter sold together.
