This is an absolutely lovely Edwardian tea dress. Just look at the ruffles! The ruffles trim the crew neckline, wrap across the front of the bust, the short sleeves and also wrap around the hips. It would have been worn with a simple cotton slip underneath. The dress does up in the back with elegant mother of pearl buttons and two snaps at the waist. Unique in its style and certainly beautiful as is, this dress has the bonus potential to be styled with a ribbon or belt at the waist and a crinoline to become a whole different dress and thus could be two dresses in one. It really is the epitome of feminine.
Label: None
Fabric: Linen
Condition: Vintage condition. There is one spot near the neckline where you can see it was darned, there are few little rips (one larger one on the shoulder) and two spots where there is a little spotting of what looks like rust. The holes could be darned and the spots are actually not that noticeable because they are in the frills. Lastly, one frill is missing from the back of the dress. Though it may seem like considerable wear and tear, the overall condition of the dress when on, is negligible. And most of the wear and tear could be dealt with successfully.
Measurements: Bust 34", Waist 28", Hips full, Length 43"
