This is an incredibly pretty Edwardian day blouse and skirt. The fabric is an unbelievably soft cotton gauze with floral embroidery details on the collar of the blouse, each full sleeve, the back of the blouse as well as all around the skirt from almost mid-way down. The blouse has a cape collar and peasant sleeves with a ruffle cuff. The front of the blouse features tiny pearl coloured buttons that do up from the neck to just beneath the bust-line. The blouse could be considered cropped in that it hits just at the natural waist and is not tailored in the front but falls loose. The back of the blouse gathers at the back creating a slightly more tailored effect. The skirt does up simply with one single button in the back and is full in its style. The bottom of the skirt features an embroidered scalloped hemline. The skirt has been shown here with a petticoat underneath. This is the perfect set for feeling pretty on a hot summer afternoon.
Condition: Great vintage condition. Overall, this set is in extraordinary condition considering its age and the delicate nature of the soft cotton gauze fabric. There is a yellow mark on the cuff of one sleeve (which could probably be dealt with), some fraying on the hem that is impossible to notice when wearing unless the piece is scrutinized and one place within the body of the skirt where the fabric has ripped a little (this could definitely be repaired). Again, really overall great condition for such an exquisite Edwardian set.
