This exquisite navy blue silk and beaded dress is a stunning example of 1920’s evening fashion. Lined with a navy blue silk slip covering the bodice and skirt only, the sleeves are transparent, flared, to the elbow with open slits down the side. The bodice is unfitted and beaded in tiny cylindrical onyx coloured beads in vertical stripes. There is a tie sash at the drop waist. The skirt falls in a pencil shape and is beaded with the same coloured beads in vertical lines broken by wide horizontal designs made up of circle and square patterns. The skirt ends in a completely beaded scalloped hem. This dress is truly extraordinary. The dress does up at the right shoulder with five snaps.
Fabric: Silk crepe
Condition: Pre-loved. There are some tiny rips in the back of the dress near the neckline and the under slip is ripped in one place (but fixable). There is also some light staining at the back of the dress that looks like some drops of liquid. All these issues would be covered if the dress was worn with hair long and loose. The beads have fallen loose or completely disappeared in some spots as well but as a whole, the beading is in excellent shape.
Measurements: Sleeves: 13" long, Drop waist: 34", From shoulders to waist: 20", From waist to bottom of hem: 31".
